Deep in Fiji’s tropical plateaus, the Upper Navua River cuts an emerald ribbon through black, volcanic gorges. Set out for a rafting adventure down this untouched waterway. Grab your life jacket, helmet and paddle, and set out for a short trek through the lush tropical forest to your departure area near Nabukelevu Village, hop aboard your inflatable raft and set off downstream. The Upper Navua River winds sandwiched between steep, 130-foot (40 m) cliffs of dusky lava rocks, surrounded by the lush vegetation of the tropics. Float through this tranquil scenery, passing dozens of cascading waterfalls and keep an eye out for native flora and fauna like graceful herons and brilliantly coloured parrots. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the river bank and just soak in the surroundings.
